I sometimes turn on the television and listen to snippets of programs while working on something online.  Yesterday, I happened to have the tv tuned to a PBS station and an episode of Charlie Rose aired.  I stopped what I was doing to watch it.  It was so interesting, a discussion about the radio program, Radiolab.  That show would be a good alternative for those who don’t know what to listen to until Len Tillem’s show begins on radio station KKSF Newstalk 910-AM at 3:00pm.

Radiolab has many podcasts on their website as well as listings of what stations carry their show.  You can listen to audio files of the show.  Unlike video, you don’t have to sit and watch.  You can simply listen.

It’s hard to describe the content of the show.  It’s fascinating, entertaining, educational, quirky and intelligent.

Watch the interview first on the Charlie Rose show.  Here’s a link:

Look for the video titled Radiolab.  Currently it’s listed on the front page.  Later, I’m sure it will be found under Recent Shows.

Now, after watching that I’m sure you will want to visit Radiolab’s website.  Here’s the link:

For a starter, listen to the Episode titled ‘Bliss’.  It is really wonderful.  I want to listen to every available episode now.  If you listen to the ‘Bliss’ episode, let me know what you think of it.  What did you think of the man who created the symbols?  Or, the story of the snowflake?

Each story presented is as unique as a snowflake.  If you are a former KGO listener, then this is the type of radio show for you.  It has it all.  What a treat to find a great show to enjoy before turning on KKSF-Newstalk 910-AM to listen to Len and Gil.

Another thing I love about Radiolab’s website is they list the books people affiliated with their shows are reading.

I can’t believe I’m excited about radio again.  What a nice feeling.
